Archives Reference National Essence

• According to the existing National Records and Archives Law, we restricted the following records:

• without limitation of time in the case of strictly confidential grade archives;
• 50 years in the case of confidential grade archives;
• 30 years in the case of private grade archives;
• 25 years in the case of restricted grade archives.

Except the above mentioned records, all records and publications are available in reading room.

• Researchers frequently asked and significant collections are as follows:

• British Administration Records during the colonial period (1835 – 1948)
• Japanese Occupation period records (1942 – 1945)
• Reports on Administration of Burma Series (1856 – 1935)
• Burma Gazette Series (1862 – to date)
• Government Notifications Series (1880 – to date)
• Agreements and Contracts (1947 – to date)
• Post-independence period records (1948 – 1974)
• Parliament records (1923 – to date)
• Cabinet Meeting Minutes (1945 – 2015)

• For Foreign Researcher

1. Fill in the registration form and write Permission Letter to Director General.
2. Passport (original)
3. 2 Photos (1.5" x 2")
4. Recommendation Letter from Concerned University, Organization and Department or Concerned Embassy.
5. (If necessary) Permission Letter from Concerned Ministry/ Department/ Organization or person which is depended on the type of records/archives.
6. Registration fees is MMK equivalent to US$ 30 for per year (After Permission)

• For Local Researchers

1. Fill in the registration form and write Permission Letter to Director General.
2. The recommendation letter and Identity of their universities /departmental concerned/ Individual
3. Two passport size photos
4. (If necessary) Permission Letter from Concerned Ministry/ Department/ Organization or person which is depended on the type of records/archives.
5. No Registration fees for local Students and Departmental Researchers
6. Other Researchers (Local) - MMK (equivalent to USD 30) for per year
